Alford Image Library
Are you interested in local history and genealogy? Are you interested in landscapes and archaeology? Then you might consider visiting www.alfordimages.com where you will find over 600 photographs of Donside, from times past to present day, often accompanied by interesting notes and discussions. Many of the photographs are from collections held at the Alford Heritage Centre. You can also send in photographs for inclusion on the site.

Re: Alford Image Library
Hi Paul,
There is at least one old image of your establishment on the website and quite a few of features in and around Strathdon, including some under "transport" showing buses making their way through the Den of Kildrummy. For specific permission to use photographs you will need to select what you would like to use and then approach the relevant photographer, etc.....fairly standard stuff of course.....for anything by the Alford Heritage Centre, ask Bob Henderson at the Centre (follow the links on the website for details). I'm sure most will give permission providing that an appropriate acknowledgement is made (and maybe a small donation to the Heritage Centre ) I would also be grateful if you were to add an acknowledgement to the alfordimages.com website (which is an entirely charitable site edited largely by myself in my spare time).
Regards,
Jim

Re: Alford Image Library
You could also take a look at the Donside Flickr Group - can't promise any historical information though, but there are quite a few Strathdon photos there.
Re: Alford Image Library
Paul, I found an old photograph, dating from 1900, of the Newe Arms, on page 28 of Gibbie McIntosh's book, The Lonach Highlanders, an Anthology of Lonach Ways and Bygone Days, pulished last year. Maybe Gibbie McIntosh has the original or can direct you to the owner of the original?

Jim
