Scottish Hydro Electric Free Appliances Scheme

Scottish Hydro Electric has started up a scheme for free appliances, the qualifying criteria are listed below. The scheme is aimed at people in vulnerable households or people on low incomes and they do not have to be a customer of Scottish Hydro. If they qualify they can choose from a fridge, freezer, fridge/freezer, cooker or washing machine. Please circulate this information to anyone who may benefit and to obtain further information, please contact SCARF, and ask to speak to the Duty Advisor on 01224-213-005.

Qualifying Criteria:

• Householders in receipt of Pension Credit (Guarantee or Savings Element)
• Households on income-related benefits with children aged 16 or under
• Chronically sick or disabled people on specified benefits
• Women/Men and families on income-related benefits who are beginning a tenancy after leaving a violent partner
• People on income-related benefits who are beginning a tenancy following a period of homelessness
• Vulnerable young people on income-related benefits being assisted into a new tenancy
